Hide and Seek
(2023)
The manipulation of light and shadow can impact our emotions and mood. The interplay of light and shadow stimulates the observer’s emotional response. Highlighting specific areas and objects through lighting can direct attention to important elements or vice versa. Shadows provide objects with a sense of volume and depth, influencing the perception of spatial relationships between an object and its surroundings. In this work, I focused on the sensitive feedback of images based on all these aspects.
The constant urge for realistic representations of interior and architectural models encouraged me to take a more unconventional path and deceive viewers normative perceptions through simple modifications. The idea is inspired by the impact of liminal spaces and Gregory Crewdson’s photographic works. Where they consciously work with objects or people, along with their associated gestures and facial expressions, I aim to evoke emotions particularly through light and shadow.
